![]() ![]() It’s possible that a sequel could elaborate on Cal’s character to label him a Gray Jedi definitively. He still represents the Jedi Order and upholds its values. Vos’ story is similar to Cal’s but much more extreme, and if he was never labeled a Gray Jedi, Cal shouldn’t be either.ĭespite the similarities, Cal Kestis really isn’t a Gray Jedi in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. After surviving Order 66, Vos began a romantic relationship and assisted those on the Hidden Path. He fell to the dark side and became Count Dooku’s apprentice but eventually returned to the light. Vos served the Republic during the Clone Wars. He knows that attachment can be a path to the dark side, but he chooses to be with Merrin anyway however, Cal wouldn’t be the first Jedi to make this kind of choice.Ĭal also has some striking parallels with another canon Jedi, Quinlan Vos. Cal acknowledges that the Jedi Order is gone, a fact that he uses to rationalize his relationship with Merrin. In another case, Cal resembles a Gray Jedi who lives outside the Jedi Code. Still, it’s tough to definitively label him a Gray Jedi because there’s no way to know if Starkiller would have abandoned using dark side powers in the canceled The Force Unleashed 3. He fits the Gray Jedi description of a Force-user walking the line between both sides of the Force. Starkiller aspired to be a Sith Lord and a Jedi but never officially achieved either title. He was trained in the dark side and used its powers even after he defected to the light side. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is a Gray Jedi-like perspective, but Katarn isn’t a true Gray Jedi either because he devoted himself to Luke’s new Jedi Order.ĭarth Vader’s apprentice, Starkiller, from The Force Unleashed games is another character who resembles the concept of Gray Jedi. In Jedi Academy, a game where he isn’t the player character, he employs force lightning against Imperial forces as Katarn believed that force powers weren’t inherently evil, but how one uses them is what matters. Katarn fell to the dark side for a time before returning to the light, but he still used dark side powers occasionally. Kyle Katarn from the Star Wars: Jedi Knight series also closely matches a Gray Jedi. ![]()
